Ok, fine. Miami is going to be underwater.

Let’s get to the good part: the nostalgia.

Waterproof is a book-length obituary for Miami, written by YOU, the people who lived here, and edited by Mario Alejandro Ariza.

We’re not asking for your hopes and dreams. We're just going to go ahead and assume that it will all be lost, so you tell us: what should we remember about Miami?

We’re asking for short obituaries (100 - 750 words) for specific Miami places, moments, phenomena, and people, in addition to original artwork (photo or illustration) that depicts the Miami we love.

Your assignment: If you wrote for a newspaper and had to write a tribute to one of the following, what would it sound like?

  • La Vaquita

  • Club Space

  • Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine

  • Hurricane Andrew

  • Un batido de trigo

  • ¿Qué Pasa USA?

  • Etc.
