Luck Be a Lyric: A Poetry Workshop Inspired by Frank Sinatra
Led by Nick Vagnoni

O, Miami and HistoryMiami present a poetry workshop inspired by HistoryMiami’s Sinatra: An American Icon, an exhibition featuring never-before-seen photos of American music legend, Frank Sinatra.

Poems are often triggered by memories, and memories themselves are triggered by sights and sounds, such as in this haiku from the 17th-century Japanese poet Basho:

Even in Kyoto–
Hearing the cuckoo's cry–
I long for Kyoto.

In this workshop, we will read poems about music, sound, place, and memory; roam the Sinatra: An American Icon exhibit to trigger our own poems; and then share our work aloud, adding new sounds and usic to the exhibit space.
