Arts and Business Council Miami invites you to a special edition of their Creative Happy Hour: #LunchPoems at The Stage.
Beginning April 1, compose a poem (140 characters or less) on Twitter during your lunch break and use the hashtag #LunchPoems. The Arts and Business Council will be picking their favorites, and on Thursday, April 24th, Miami writer and gastronome Mandy Baca will read them at The Stage in the Design District as an ode to the “urbane & ironic” works of Frank O’Hara.
Enjoy the short poems while unwinding after a long day and meet other artists and creative professionals.
Mandy Baca is author of The Sizzling History of Miami Cuisine: Cortaditos, Stone Crabs and Empanadas; which details Miami's rich food culture. As a food- and history-obsessed Miami native, Baca grew up surrounded by an abundance of food traditions. Her culinary passions led her to the Hospitality School at Johnson & Wales University and then to a master's program at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy. She continues her quest to advance the interest in local food culture and inspire excitement and change in people's consumption habits through writing and outreach. She is writing her second book, Discovering Vintage Miami.
